Fab Lab Barcelona collaborated with the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) for the production of SPECS support.








Fab Lab Barcelona collaborated with the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) for the production of SPECS project: Synthetic Perceptive, Emotive and Cognitive Systems, a rehabilitation gaming system. It uses synthetic methods to activate the neuronal syntax on perception, emotion and cognition behaviors.



Fab Lab Barcelona colaboró con el Departamento de Información y Comunicación Tecnológica de la Universidad Pompeu Fabra (UPF) para la producción del proyecto SPECS: Synthetic Perceptive, Emotive and Cognitive Systems que es un sistema de rehabilitación a través del juego, el cual usa un método sintético para activar la sintaxis neuronal en comportamientos de percepción, emoción y cognición.








The development of SPECS support was designed by Ingi Freyr. It consists on the fabrication of a
birch plywood with resin finish structure that holds the 3D scanner and the computer screen that displays the virtual world. The pieces are made by computer numerical control cut (CNC) using RhinoCAM and linked with assemblies and nuts. The design focuses on the simplicity so it can be easily replicated in any Fab Lab. This way any hospital in the project can have access to it anywhere in the world.



El desarrollo del soporte de SPECS fue diseñado por Ingi Freyr. El cual consiste en la fabricación de una estructura ajustable de contrachapado de abedul con acabado de resina que sostiene el scaner 3D y la pantalla del ordenador que visualiza el mundo virtual. Las piezas son mecanizadas por corte de control numérico (CNC) utilizando RhinoCam, y unidas a través de ensambles y tuercas. El diseño se centra en la sencillez de las piezas para que pueda ser replicado fácilmente en cualquier Fab Lab. De esta manera se facilita el acceso a todos los hospitales en el proyecto en cualquier parte del mundo.
