MakerFaire Hong Kong - Workshop of Participatory Laser Cut Carpet by FabTextiles
Participants where introduced to parametric design and laser cutting on soft material. In this session the participants created different variations of a module that interlocks, aggregates and populates and they have learned the possibilities of digital design . The ages were from 8 to 50 years old and most of them had no previous experience with digital fabrication . The activity resulted to be very creative since the modular system gave them the opportunity to create multiple and different 2d or 3d structures . Soft fabrication is one of the most successful approaches of introducing digital fabrication to a wider public since its is light , fast in production and uses materials that are in our everyday life , such as our clothing .
