In the framework of the Poblenou Maker District, Barcelona’s Mayor Ada Colau, together with Gerardo Pisarello, First Deputy Mayor of Barcelona, and Francesca Bria, Chief Technology and Digital Innovation Officer, visited this morning the Fab Lab Barcelona at IAAC.
Tomas Diez, Fab Lab Barcelona and Fab City Research Lab Director, showed the Fab Lab and the Institute to the Mayor, explaining projects such as the Fab Academy, the Fab Textile and the Smart Citizen.
After the visit to the Fab Lab Barcelona, the Mayor went to La Plataforma, the headquarter of the Poble Nou Urban District, to take the chance to discuss with Tomás Diez and other makers of the neighbourhood the future of the Maker District initiative.
Poblenou Maker District is an initiative that aims to facilitate the development of a series of activities, events, workshops and projects, which promote interaction between the local community and citizen initiatives on a small scale, connected in turn to the global community.
This interaction will allow society to experience the Maker culture of technology and innovation, by participating in an active way in the prototyping and testing of products, services and interventions created by the movement.
